41st Annual Scottish Christmas Walk Draws Thousands to Alexandria

The City of Alexandria kicked off it's 2011 Holiday Season in fashion … Scottish fashion that is. The 41st Annual Scottish Christmas Walk, sponsored by the Campagna Center of Alexandria, drew several thousands of individuals and families along the city's streets to enjoy the sounds of bagpipes, scent of heather, dogs, dogs and more dogs along with Santa and Mrs. Claus. You didn't have to be Scottish to enjoy the festivities.

The city is rich in Scottish heritage. The parade featured over 100 clans, pipe and drum bands from near and far and their companion hounds and terriers. This year's version was sponsored in part by the Scottish government.

Thousands of enthusiastic spectators kicked off the holiday season in Alexandria.
