Photo Montage: Two Indian Dance Schools Celebrate Anniversaries

The Natyabhoomi School of Dance celebrated 19 years of teaching young people with a special performance at the Blackrock Center for the Arts in Germantown, Md Friday evening.

The school was founded by Ms. Deepti Mukund and later was joined in her efforts by her sister Shruthi Mukund. The school offers teachings in Mysore Style of Bharatanatyam, the South Indian classical dance form and in Indian folk dances. The students also learn about various aspects of Indian culture. Students can be seen throughout the school year performing at various venues in the Metropolitan Washington,DC area.

Two students who receieved extensive training at Nayhabhoomi are Deepti’s daughter Shreya Navile and Trisha Miglani. They formed a separate dance group Natyabhoomi -Raaga DC in 2011 which features lessons in Bollywood dance. They celebrated their 2nd Anniversary with an energetic performance Friday at Blackrock.
