Cherry Blossom Parade Draws Thousands as Spring Finally Blooms

The blooming of the Nation’s Capital Cherry Blossoms was a welcome indication that the long, harsh winter suffered by this city’s residents was finally over. With temperatures reaching into the seventies, the Tidal Basin was once again crowded with both locals and tourists to witness and photograph the majesty of the blooms.

As the annual National Cherry Blossom Festival nears its end, the Cherry Blossom Parade served as another welcome spring happening, drawing thousands along Constitution Avenue as a further celebration of the gift from the Japanese government of 3000 cherry trees in 1912.

Grand Marshal of the parade was Darrell Green, former cornerback from the Washington Redskins and Pro Football Hall of Fame member. Other participating celebrities included American Idol Season 12 winner Candice Glover, Multiple Grammy award-winning artist Sheena Easton, R&B and Gospel Grammy award-winning artist Regina Belle, Pop sensation  Aaron Carter, Branden James from season 8 of America’s Got , Chart topping artist Jay Sean and Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri.

Several giant colorful helium balloons, elaborate floats delighted the spectators along with fourteen marching bands from across the country.
