Those with roots to several countries throughout Central and South America put on a display of pride and pageantry Saturday afternoon as several groups danced and marched along Constitution Avenue as part of Fiesta DC’s annual Parade of Nations.

The event preceded Sunday’s Fiesta DC “Festival Latino” downtown which featured live music and vendors. The event attracts several thousands each year.

Countries represented during Saturday’s parade included El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Bolivia among others. Because there is an extremely large Bolivian community in the area represented by several traditional folkloric dance groups, the Bolivian contingent made up the second half of the parade. Representing the nine different folkloric dances, several groups marched in unison to the dance they represent preceded by a banner indicating their particular dance.
