Festival Argentino 2016 took place Saturday evening at Thomas Jefferson Community Theatre on S. Old Glebe Road and FestivalDC was on hand to capture all the action through our photographer’s lens. The festival marked 30 years (29 years as a festival following first year as community picnic) that it has resided in Arlington (Va) just outside our Nation’s Capital. Its founder Daniel Manzoni has worked tirelessly with limited resources over the past three decades to make the festival a reality each year.
This year’s Festival featured artists Los Romero, Dario Chiesa, Hugo Valverde, Raul Chuly Garcia, Nancy Massobrio (in homage to Mercedes Sosa), Ruben Gimenez and Soledad and Ana Isa along with Bolivian singer Salvatore. Russian dancers Liza and Alexei Semyonov performed the tango as did Ponti Del Mercado.
A marketplace featuring handicrafts, local vendors and a chance to purchase artist’s CD’s took place before and during the stage performances.
