MOAA’s Young African ConneXions Summit and Mandela Day of Service

The Mayor’s Office on African Affairs invites you to the 2nd Annual Young African ConneXions Summit on July 15, 2016. Themed Impact through Leadership, Civic Engagement and Social Entrepreneurship, the summit will be held at the Howard University School of Business Auditorium located at 2600 6th Street, NW from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Following the Summit, on Saturday, July 16, 2016, MOAA will host the second Mandela Day of Service in partnership with the Department of Public Works, ServeDC, Path to Greatness, and Alice Ferguson Foundation for a community service clean-up at the Anacostia River.  

Please note:

  • Free transportation to and from Anacostia Metro to the clean-up site will be provided from 9:00 am -10:00 am and at the end of the event.
  • Due to the bushes that have grown around the river, participants are encouraged to wear long sleeved shirts, long pants, and waterproof shoes. 
  • There will be free giveaways and a chance to win free airline tickets to South Africa courtesy of South African Airlines!

Both the Young African ConneXions Summit and the Mandela Day of Service are part of MOAA’s Youth Engagement Program and are presented this year as an extension of MOAA’s 10th Year Anniversary celebration.
