The films of Polish director Krzysztof Kieślowski’s Three Colors trilogy were immediately recognized as cinematic masterpieces upon their release in the early 1990s. Red closes the trilogy in grand fashion, with an incandescent meditation on fate and chance, starring Irène Jacob as a sweet-souled yet somber runway model in Geneva whose life dramatically intersects with that of a bitter retired judge, played by Jean‑Louis Trintignant. Meanwhile, just down the street, a seemingly unrelated story of jealousy and betrayal unfolds. Red is an intimate look at forged connections and a splendid final statement from a remarkable filmmaker at the height of his powers. More about Three Colors: Red

“Red remains in essence the story of a friendship which, across the generations, leaves both parties a little easier with themselves but still prey to fate” – Derek Malcolm, The Guardian

Three Colors: Red was nominated for three Academy Awards including Best Director, Best Cinematography and Best Original Screenplay, as well as the Cannes Film Festival Palm d’Or. Red was also selected as Best Foreign Language Film by the New York Film Critics Circle Awards and Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards among others.
