Holiday Cheer Fills the Streets of Old Town Alexandria with Annual Scottish Walk Parade

It was in 1749 that the City of Alexandria, Virginia was officially established by three Scottish merchants. It was named after its original founder, John Alexander, also of Scottish descent. Saturday, the city celebrated its heritage with a weekend of festivities. FestivalDC was on hand to capture some of the images of the city’s annual Scottish Christmas Walk Parade..

Dozens of Scottish clans dressed in colorful tartans paraded through the streets of Old Town. They were joined by pipe and drum bands from around the region as well as terriers and hounds.
