Announcing the 2017 Capital Fringe Festival

This year’s Capital Fringe Festival line-up is packed to the brim, with theatre, dance, music and art focusing on human rights, equality and stories that manifest hope, struggle and what it is to be alive right now. We invite you to step into northeast DC, take a walk around the Trinidad and H Street NE neighborhood and explore the Fringe Festival venues all within five to ten minutes of each other.

 
2017 Fringe Festival Highlights

  • The 12th Annual Capital Fringe Festival will run from July 6-23 with the extension week July 26 to 30. Fringe’s year round home base the Logan Fringe Arts Space at 1358 Florida Ave NE will be the Festival’s hub. There will be free music in the courtyard and the Fringe Arts Bar will be serving drinks and food. Official Fringe Festival venues are all located within a five to ten minute walk from the Logan Fringe Arts Space. 
  • Get a preview of the Festival on Thursday, June 22 at 7:30pm. Twenty to 30 productions offer up snippets of their work to entice you at the Logan Fringe Arts Space. Press are welcome, please RSVP to press@capitalfringe.org in order to reserve seats. 
  • HOME an art exhibit exploring different interpretations of home including the loss of, making of and search for. Curated by DC visual and performance artist Sheldon Scott. Opening June 29 running through the Festival at the Logan Fringe Arts Space.
  • Minnie the Mooucher by local theatre company Pointless Theatre presented by Capital Fringe July 6 – 30. Capital Fringe presents Pointless Theatre Company under its new program entitled Fringe Tour. Fringe will present one to three theatre productions during the annual Fringe Festival. Every three years Capital Fringe will take four to five of these locally created theatre productions on tour to Canada and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
  • Capital Fringe Festival Audience Awards voted on by the audience honoring the best in drama, comedy, dance, musical and physical theatre. Once again we will include two awards given to those making a difference in the DC independent art scene: Most Inspired and the Community Connector.
