Photo Montage: Dance Asia Colors 2017 Holiday Showcase

Dance Asia’s Colors! series presented its 2017 edition this past weekend at the Gunston Theater in Arlington. The annual event serves as an avenue to showcase creative heritage performances by groups representing various Asian countries and guest groups from other parts of the globe. The objective of the program is to encourage artists to explore new ideas, create new pieces, and actualize conceptual dreams, based on a particular Color.

The colors are rotated each year among the participating groups to create new synergies and artistic wonderments. Artists present creative pieces to reflect their tradition, heritage, culture, identity & experience through the spirit of that particular given color.

The event is supported by Arlington County Cultural Affairs and presented by the Asia Heritage Foundation headed by Wuiping Yap.

Groups which participated this year were: MHC FilAm Heritage Dance Ensemble (Philippines), Natyabhoomi School of Dance (Indian), Ancient Rhythms Dance Company, Spotlight Studio (Indonesia), Tamure Ataata (Tahiti), Mongolian Dance Ensemble, Fairfax Chinese Dance Troupe, Nritya Mandap Dance Group (Nepal), Hulala (Hawaii and other Pacific Islands), Miss Saigon Dance Team (Vietnam), Chin Daiko (Okinawa Islands of Japan), Fundacion Soci Cultural Diablada Boliviana (Bolivia) and Dance Asia Alliance.
