“Lullaby of Peace” Concert at Western Presbyterian Church

A very special Tribute In memory of the Khojaly Kids of Azerbaijan tragedy will be held at a repeat performance of the “Lullaby of Peace” Concert on Monday, February 26 from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm at the Western Presbyterian Church on 2501 Virginia Ave, NW, Washington, DC.

“Music represents the spirit of the human soul. It is the best language one can speak in joy and in sadness. And it is also the best response to human tragedies,” stated Chateau Gardecki, the Washington International Piano Arts Council Chair and Founder.

WIPAC and CPRU Sonmaz Mashal in cooperation with the Embassy of Azerbaijan presents the cultural project “Lullaby of Peace,” whereby a poem devoted to the children of Khojaly was forged into a music composition for soprano, clarinet, piano and narrator entitled “Khojaly Lullaby.”

Music envisioned by Haskell Small, pianist and composer, commissioned by Chateau Gardecki, WIPAC Chair and Founder. Poem was written by Khojaly poet Yusif Savalan, translated by Shahla Naghiyeva and edited by America poet Shara McCallum.
