Mongolian Society Hosts Annual Picnic with Music, Good Food, Friends and Family

Continuing a yearly tradition, the Mongolian Society brought together families and friends of Mongolia to the residence of HE Ambassador and Mrs. Yondon Otgonbayar to celebrate Mongolian culture.

The Mongolia Society was founded in 1961 as a private, non-political organization which is interested in promoting the study of Mongolia. The Embassy’s Third Secretary, Khulan Ariunbold commented that many of those in attendance have for many years shared their affection for Mongolia.

The event was made especially meaningful when Ambassador Otgonbayar presented the Order of Red Banner of Labor Valor to the famed Mongolian singer, Mrs. Bolormaa Jugdersuren, who performed with her protégé, Mr. Batsaikhan Tumur. Their duo performance was passionate and inspiring.

Dr. Alicia Campi, President of the Mongolia Society, welcomed the guests with a delectable buffet of traditional cuisine. Mrs. Otgonbayar also graciously received the guests, including entrepreneur, Peter McFarren and his spouse, Mela Aviles McFarren , Rodrigo Patzi and John Crayon from Exim Bank, Henri Polgar from the Panamerican-Panafrican Association, representatives from the US Chamber of Commerce and many others.
