FestivalDC.com is a Permanent Programme of the Pan-American/Pan-African Association, Inc. (PaPa). The PaPa is a Non-Governmental Organization in Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. Its founder and Chairman of the Board, Dr. Robert Starling Pritchard, has long been an advocate for celebrating the richness of cultural diversity. As founder of the annual observances of Black History Month throughout the United States and other parts of the world, he long ago decided to champion his African-American Heritage. He has spent nearly his entire life of over eight decades promoting and nurturing a multi-cultural approach to the arts and humanity.

FestivalDC.com, founded by Dr. Pritchard’s protégé, George Newcomb, is following Dr. Pritchard’s vision. Its goal is to highlight and promote the richness of all the various multi-ethnic and multi-cultural communities representing the Washington, DC, Northern Virginia and nearby Maryland areas. These areas as a whole, known as the DMV, represent one of the most diverse areas in the nation, attracting residents and visitors from all over the globe. Many members of these communities were born outside of the United States. Many are children who were born here, but have taken on the cultural identity of their family’s heritage that has been instilled in them by their parents. While members of these communities have embraced all that is good about life in this country, they also understand that maintaining ties to their traditional values is vital. We see this expressed through the many cultural festivals that take place throughout the year showcasing these cultures and sharing the greatness of them with people from all races and backgrounds with a great level of pride and dignity.

While the main thrust of FestivalDC.com is to highlight the greatness of these cultures, it also realizes the importance of sharing news items which are relevant to these communities. Therefore, FestivalDC.com will also publish news as it becomes newsworthy.
