Newly opened Studio85, a fashion-first art and apparel boutique located on Florida Avenue in Northwest Washington, held its second open mic night Friday with lots of laughter, poetry dance and song bringing joy to the many guests who attended. The night was topped with a surprise presentation of a birthday cake to co-Founder Tamika Terrell.
It's no coincidence that Studio85 is becoming a beacon for poets, artists and those who want to be seen in the latest fashions. It was founded by three sisters, Tiffany, Tamika and Tammi. It was at a coffee house in their parent's hometown of Lancaster, South Carolina where they came up with the idea. While singing songs, laughing and just enjoying their country roots, they conceived the idea of giving "funny" names to nail polishes leading to their current Studio85 line. Photography and paintings, in addition to the stylish fashions, line the walls of Studio85. Dad is a painter, and creativity is at the core of their inspirations.
Studio85 will be holding open-mic nights on a regular basis and welcomes all poets, singers and anyone who wishes to speak their mind.
