On and off again rain showers did little to dampen the spirits of both participants and those attending the 8th Annual Fiesta Asia Street Fair organized by Asia Heritage Foundation. Thousands made their way to the fair held in downtown DC. It is one of the most popular and much anticipated events each spring as Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month is celebrated throughout the region.
"We've been here for eight years, and we hope to keep coming back. It's very, very heart warming to see so many of you here today even with the rain," Asia Heritage Foundation Executive Director Wuiping Yap, who is part of a group who founded the event, spoke to many of the Fair-goers. "Our mission is to bring you Asian culture in the month of May."
Five stages of non-stop cultural performances, traditional Asian food, inter-active children's tents and traditional handicrafts were among the many happenings for both young and old.
Asia Heritage Foundation continues to celebrate Asian and Pacific Island Heritage Month with an upcoming Asia Film Fest. Please visit: http://asiaheritagefoundation.org/events/fiesta-asia-film-fest/ for further information.
