The Argentina Festival’s first annual ‘Golden Medallion’ awards were presented Monday evening at the Embassy of Argentina. Organizers of the 26-year-old festival instituted the awards to recognize those who have made significant contributions toward making the yearly festival such a success.
Now in its 27th year, the Argentina Festival is a traditional celebration hosted yearly in Arlington, VA. Award recipients included the artists, sponsors and private organizations and individuals who donated their skills, time and efforts to promote the yearly Argentine-Hispanic cultural event.
Along with the ‘Medallion Plata Vieja’ awards, the committee also awarded a trophy, the ‘Alas de la Victoria” and Icons of the History of Argentina Friendship Poster,” to George Newcomb, Founder of FestivalDC.com, and Eduardo Zavala of ZGS Communications for more than 20 years of festival support. All awardees enjoyed an evening of wine, tango, music, and friendship. Congratulations to all!
