The Lunar New Year is again upon us. Chinese Lunar New Year celebration begins on the new moon on the first day of the New Year on Feb. 19 and ends on the full moon 15 days later. As the Year of the Horse gallops to a close, you are invited to join in welcoming the Year of the Sheep!
Hai Hua Community Center (HHCC) is once again hosting a multicultural Lunar New Year celebration at Fair Oaks Mall. The celebration will feature Chinese dragon & lion performances, martial arts demonstrations, multicultural music and dance performances, arts & crafts activities, children’s drawing contest. Again this event will be open and free to the public. Our aim is to help generations of Asian- Americans maintain an awareness of their heritage, but also to educate the American public to better understand Asian culture; thus promoting cross cultural understanding and friendship.
This annual event has become a popular Northern Virginia tradition, this year marks our 12th year and is a very special anniversary for us because 12 years is one complete cycle on the Chinese zodiac!
