As Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month marches on, the countdown to the much anticipated Fiesta Asia Street Fair held in our Nation’s Capital continues. The annual event, to be held May 16th, is presented by the Asia Heritage Foundation (AHF) http://asiaheritagefoundation.org/.
AHF presents a series of events throughout May including Sunday’s Fiesta Asia Planet Family which served as a special tribute to Mother’s Day with an afternoon of fun family time held at the Smithsonian National Zoo. The event featured cultural performances by children of all ages for the whole family. Children were able to learn different dances together with their moms and showcase their own talents as a way of showing their appreciation for their mother’s love.
Participating were a diverse array of the area’s more popular groups. They included the Natyabhoomi School of Dance; Mongolian Dance Ensemble; Natamu Dance Group; Fairfax Chinese Dance Troupe; Spotlight Studio; Hulala along with dancers/instructors Wuiping Yap,Shruthi Mukund, Deepti Mukund, Mourien Pratimawan Supartha, Ron Curameng, Manori de Silva, Stella Choi and Amy Yang.
