Handmade Turkish Arts Bazaar to Benefit Soma Families

Offer something special to your loved ones this holiday season! ATA-DC is pleased to announce our 2015 Holiday Handmade Arts Bazaar in partnership with Anatolian Artisans taking place on December 12th at the ATAA Turkish House.

2014 Soma mining accident left hundreds of widows and orphans, and subsequent closures of coal mines in the area have rendered large numbers of additional miners unemployed. Through Anatolian Artisans’ program, the women relatives of miners are trained to produce contemporary products using their traditional skills. Sales of the handicrafts are being handled in the US and Turkey by Anatolian Artisans.

There will also be a Bake Sale and complimentary gourmet Turkish coffee service to raise funds for Soma families. This event is also supported by Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA).

Date: December 12, Saturday

Time: 11 AM – 4 PM

Address: ATAA Turkish House, 1526 18th Street NW, Washington DC 20036
