Selected by a juried panel of dance professionals, Dance Metro DC’s 2015 Choreographers’ Commission recipients reveal the fruits of their participation in this debut program. Dance Metro DC, the regional service organization for dance in the national capital region, and Dance Place present Triple Threat! — Dance Metro DC’s 2015 choreographers’ commission showcase with recipient choreographers Adrienne Clancy, Hayley Cutler and Sarah Beth Oppenheim.
Adrienne Clancy, Artistic Director of ClancyWorks Dance Company will present Dream Catchers, Phase 2, with uniquely architectural partnering and socially charged choreography.
Hayley Cutler, Artistic Director of darlingdance company will present CRADLE, a sarcastic yet personal exorcism of the pop-culture demons saying women can “have it all.”
Sarah Beth Oppenheim, Artistic Director of Heart Stück Bernie will present Woodbind. It Courses, a quirky, luscious operetta, both a mystery and surprise that arcs from coil to cry.
Dance Metro DC’s 2015 Choreographers’ Commission program exists to support the creation and development new dance works created by choreographers based in the DC metropolitan area. Clancy, Cutler and Oppenheim were selected by an independent juried panel of dance professionals to receive direct support in the form of a commissioning grant award, focused participation in a seven-session professional development series, and a shared presentation at Dance Place on September 12 and 13, 2015.
