The snapping turtle is Virginia’s largest fresh-water turtle. Meet at Walney Pond at Ellanor C. Lawrence Park from 2 to 3 p.m. to search for this often misunderstood reptile. For ages six to adult. The cost is $5 per person. Call 703-631-0013.
Wagon Ride-Birds, Butterflies & Blossoms
Take a wagon ride scavenger hunt through the meadow at Riverbend Park from 10 to 11 a.m. Search for birds and butterflies and meet a friendly animal up close. For ages two to adult. The cost is $5 per person. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult. Call 703-759-9018.
Canine Cruise
Treat your canine companion to a cruise from 6 to 7 p.m. on Lake Accotink Park’s pooch-friendly pontoon tour boat. The fee is $6 per person. There is no charge for dogs. One dog per person.
