The KID Museum of Bethesda (Md) is a place where children can learn and have fun at the same time with many interactive experiences. The museum’s mission is simple: “To cultivate creativity, curiosity and compassion to build a better world.”
Saturday at the museum offered a day long learning experience with “Discover Indonesia Day”. Children were able to learn about the rich culture of Indonesia, a country made up of many islands with each island having its own distinct culture. They learned about the many faces of Indonesia through masks, batik, music and food.
Activities include: Mask making using a batik print from a distinct Indonesian region–Sumatra, Borneo, Java, or Sulawesi. The mask-making workshop was in partnership with Rumah Indonesia; music-making with Houseofangklung-Washington
Discover Indonesia was hosted by the Embassy of Indonesia in collaboration with Rumah Indonesia and IKPA USA (Indonesian Kids Performing Arts)
