The 13th annual ArtFest Week is almost here! The community is invited to take part in this popular week-long celebration of Art in Arlington. Highlight events include an art show and sale featuring the works of more than 30 Arlington-based artists, in paintings of many genres, ceramics, sculpture, artists cards, unframed works and more.

The Opening Reception will be held on Friday, March 18 from 6-8pm, and events will take place throughout the week. Meet the artists and enjoy light refreshments in the historic 1902 Hendry House.
FREE workshops though the weekend include the following:
Saturday, March 19
11am-12pm: Intro to Icons
A noted iconographer gives a presentation on some of the ways in which icons are produced, including pigments and gilding. FREE!
1-2pm: Dance on the Terrace
The Sultanas Dance Troupe presents an al Fresco dance performance of Ancient Art Movement on the front terrace at the Hendry House (weather permitting). FREE!
2:30pm-4pm: The Greatest Museum Art Heist: Come hear about what may be the greatest museum art heist of all time at Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Among the stolen paintings that have not been seen since were works by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Degas, and Manet. Ages: 13 and up. FREE!
Sunday, March 20
12-1:30pm Paint Your Favorite Animal: a hands-on activity where kids trace and paint their favorite animal as artwork to take home and share with families. Ages: Elementary School age. FREE!
2-4pm: Creating Alcohol Ink Art
This unusual medium offers all sorts of interesting effects. Ages: 10 and up. FREE!
Tuesday, March 22
2-4pm: Oil Painting: Addition and Subtraction
Often accident lead to invention…Accidents while painting can give new ways to achieve certain effects such as wiping off color after painting, or glazing for a soft impression–with little evidence as to how it was achieved.
